Arctic Refrigeration was founded in 1947 by brothers Henry and Leo Mager with a vision to provide reliable refrigeration solutions. As the business grew, Arctic became incorporated in 1977 and relocated to its current home at 26 Cedar Street in Batavia. Over the next decade, Henry’s three sons—Richard, Michael, and William—joined the company, helping to shape its future and expand its services.
By 1988 and 1991, Henry and Leo stepped into retirement, passing the leadership torch to the next generation. Henry’s daughter Teresa soon joined as Office Manager, making Arctic a true family enterprise. Under their leadership, the company continued to evolve, expanding into vegetable storage, restaurant equipment, commercial refrigeration and ventilation, and residential and commercial heating and cooling.
In 2004, Arctic welcomed the third generation of the Mager family. William’s son, Justin, joined the company and quickly became a certified installer and team leader. In 2008, his youngest son, Jonathan, came on board as a project coordinator and estimator, further strengthening the family legacy.
In 2009, Arctic mourned the loss of its founder, Henry Mager, a father, grandfather, and leader whose dedication shaped the company for over six decades. Today, Arctic remains committed to the same principles of quality, reliability, and family values that Henry instilled. His legacy continues to inspire us as we serve our customers with the same dedication and care that started it all.
Since 1947, we've served people, businesses and farms throughout the country. We keep you and your products comfortable, when it matters most!
